Earning and Development Opportunities
Income
Owner drivers are paid on a ‘pay per stop’ basis – so the more you deliver, the more you earn! Potential earnings can typically range from £28,000 to £32,000 per year, depending on location and area. However this isn't guaranteed; it could be more, it could be less – you choose how much to deliver for us.
Owner drivers’ earnings are calculated automatically, and payments are made every 14 days.
Outgoings
As a rough guide, becoming an owner driver will involve start-up costs of approximately £1,200. This could include:
• Deposit for lease of van
• Vehicle registration fee
• Insurance initial payments:
- Motor insurance
- Public Liability insurance
- Goods in Transit insurance
You can then expect to pay the following ongoing costs each month:
• Vehicle rental (if you are leasing your van)
• Fuel
• Insurance (as above)
• Road tax
• Vehicle maintenance
• Tax and National Insurance
Your development opportunities
As an owner driver you can potentially own up to three routes. Once you have proved to us that you can manage your route successfully, we may give you the opportunity to expand your business by operating a further two routes.
