How It Works

If you think you've got what it takes to be an owner driver, you could be up and running within just a few weeks.  It’s a really simple process and we’ll support you every step of the way.

Van ownership

As an owner driver you will need to either own or lease a van.  You can choose from one of three options:

1) Provide your own van – it must be a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter or Ford Transit (or equivalent), no more than four years old from date of registration.  
2) Lease a green and yellow van on a long-term lease
3) Lease a white van on a short-term lease

Registering and paperwork

In order to become an owner driver you will need to register your self-employment and provide the following paperwork:

• Vehicle registration document (V5)
• Driving licence (paper copy plus copy of photo card)
• Certificate of motor insurance including policy schedule
• MOT certificate (if applicable)
• Goods in Transit insurance certificate
• Public Liability insurance certificate
• VAT registration certificate (if VAT registered)
• Bank statement header
